What is gouache?

I'm intrigued. :o

Gouache is a type of paint very similar to watercolor but more opaque, basically it gives you the color and depth you might get from acrylics but with a much smoother surface. You can also play with it a bit more like you can with watercolors and create much flatter, more solid color than with either. It's a good halfway medium but is unfortunately more expensive most other paint available.:XD:
